"The Three Tinkerers" - Part Four

Image
Part Four             Craig bounced back and forth between Skeeta’s TARDIS and HAL’s “brain room,” a red lit area consisting of hundreds of transparent rectangles, each one containing a center of fine-grid wires upon which the information was programmed. Skeeta and Craig each held one end of some jumper cables – or a tool resembling those used on Earth – gripping one alligator clip onto the inner workings of the central console, and the other end onto one of the memory blocks.             After finishing on his end, Craig consulted with Skeeta, “O.K., what next?” But Skeeta didn’t respond; instead, he just glared towards one corner of the brain room, deep in thought. Again, Craig beckoned, “Mr. Jenkins?”             Hearing his name snapped Skeeta out of it. He refocused on Craig, seeing how the boy had been waiting on him. “I’m sorry, son. Lost my head for a second there. What did you ask me?”             “Are you alright?” Craig asked in concern.             “Yeah, I’m go

Part Three             There was massive electrical discharge within Discovery One’s flight deck area. Strange lightning danced along the control panels, briefly disrupting their primary functions – not enough to derail the entire ship but quick enough to create a fleeting blackout in the deck itself. He stood to his full substantial height, his face devoid of emotions, impassively surveying his surroundings. He quickly took notice of the fact that he was aboard a ship in deep space – a sea of twinkling stars beyond the window of the flight deck. Undeterred, he proceeded to leave the flight deck and make his way elsewhere aboard Discovery One . -----------------------

Part Two             “You’re going to love Wakanda, Craig!” Rania proclaimed as she landed her TARDIS in the intended destination. “The people, the technology, the cities…” She was filled to the brim with excitement, hugging her body and softly sighing. “I haven’t been there in many regenerations – not since I called myself ‘Skeeta Jenkins’.”             “Skeeta Jenkins?” Craig reacted to the intriguing name. “Have I met him?”             “You probably have and never knew it was me the whole time,” Rania smirked. “I… Skeeta was even made ‘Wakandan Ambassador’ – an easy feat for a man who could easily pass for Wakandan himself. I think I still have my credentials.” She reached into the left back pocket of her olive-green jeans, retrieving the wallet that contained the psychic paper that she kept.             She showed it to Craig, who frowned and responded, “It says that you’re bald.”             Rania snickered in embarrassment, stroking her fingers through her long, lusc
